What a glorious wet afternoon we are having at the orchard! I can practically hear the spud mud soaking up all that lovely rain!!
After an intensive seven weeks of picking, sorting, packing and market stalls, our summer crop of blueberries is now on the wane. While we no longer have quite enough fruit left to take to the Daylesford Sunday Market, there are still plenty of fresh berries hiding under the bushes.
If you are keen to secure the last of this year's crop of our lovely blueberries, please let me know and I'll gather them up for you to collect from the orchard gate. You will also still be able to find them at the Hepburn Wholefoods Collective for the next couple of weeks or so.
The mulberry tree has been very generous with her bounty and it has been such a delight to see so many happy faces gobbling up the juicy berries on recent market days. These are still cropping and should be available for the next few weeks. Just around the corner are our autumn primocane raspberries! The netted enclosure is literally bursting at the seams so I expect this is going to be a bumper crop!
Our gorgeous Splendour and Zeigler prune plums are almost ready too. These special fruits have a Brix rating of 11 when fully ripe (11% sugar by weight) and are as sweet as candy.
As always, I will keep you posted on when these and our other treats are ready. Remember to also check out our home page to see what fruit is currently available and what is just around the corner.
Our next market day will be at the Glenlyon Village Market on Saturday 21 March. Between now and then you are very welcome to place an order for collection from our orchard gate in Collins Rd.
