Raised by Durondeau at Tongres-Notre-Dame near Tournai, Belgium in 1811. Durondeau is a very attractive looking fruit. Large, conical to calabasse shaped with a bumpy surface. The yellow skin is usually completely covered with fine golden golden russet and often a faint red flush. White, melting flesh. Pleasant, sweet flavour with a hint of acidity. Fruit should be left on the tree to ripen as long as possible.
